Two girlfriends and I went on a kayak trip at Lake Kanopolis along the north coast. We put in at a decent boat ramp at the Horsethief area on the northeast side of the lake. Pay for a day parking pass at the office as you enter the park off Hiway 141 at the Venango Park area. Hiking and horseback trails take off from Horsethief Area.Along the shoreline you'll find four recreational facilities: Kanopolis State Park, Venango Public Use Area, Yanke Run Point Public Use Area and Boldt Bluff Public Use Area.
